I love this game
Basta che c'è l'amore
Untitled (Golden hour)
Ammettilo, sono fortunato
Card games are one of the most recurring activities in italian movies from the 30s to the 80s, thus a symbol of italian everyday life, tradition and folklore in the 20th century.
'I love this game' results from an analisys of the many facets of gambling: the fun, the pleasure, the addiction, the misery. We might feel in control of the game, as sometimes we feel in control of life, but fate is unpredictable and wealth is temporary.
The work is made up of a collage, composed of digitally edited frames and images from italian movies, distorted and altered, and six paintings realized with artists Giulio Dal Lago, Edoardo Forato, Marta Oliva, Marco Rigoni and Marta Valpiana; presenting an abstract geometry that resembles the backside of a card.
